Resolution Games announces the release date of the tactical PVP game Demeo Battles and shows the game in detail.
The co-operative tabletop role-playing game Demeo has grown significantly since its release in 2021 and has found many fans among VR and flat gamers.
Two and a half years later, a spin-off called Demeo Battles will launch on Meta Quest and Steam. Built from the ground up for PVP, it features short but intense rounds of turn-based tactical gameplay. You’ll be able to compete against your friends for the first time, using the same seven classes and accompanied in battle by creatures you know from Demeo.
Matches last 15 to 20 minutes. You can either play solo and control two Heroes against your opponent, or play with a friend against another two-player team by moving your Heroes around the map, using abilities, and casting spells. The ten PVP-optimized maps include familiar Demeo locations such as dungeons, forests, and desert cities.
Demeo Battles can be played with or without a headset
At the beginning of each round, you can choose from a rotating cast of 37 creatures to join you in battle, as well as abilities. Unlike Demeo, the playing field narrows as the map is flooded with lava, intensifying the battle over time and forcing a decision in battle.
Penny Arcade’s Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik show what a match looks like in an exclusive YouTube video playing the PC version of Demeo Battles. Like Demeo, the game will also be playable on PC without VR in a fully native flatscreen version.
Demeo Battles will be released on November 9th in the Meta Quest Store for Meta Quest 2 and 3, and on Steam for PC VR headsets and monitors. The price will be $19.99. Resolution Games did not disclose if and when the game will be coming to PSVR 2 and PS5.
If you want to get a sneak peek of the game, you can play a PC demo on October 9th as part of the Steam Next Fest.
Demeo itself recently received a major mixed reality update, adding support for hand tracking and local multiplayer. Demeo Battles will also feature a mixed reality mode, but Resolution Games is keeping details under wraps.
It’s still unclear what’s next for Demeo in terms of content. The last PVE adventure was released at the end of 2022. Currently, the studio is hard at work on the Vision Pro version of the game.
