Microsoft bets big on Germany with a historic €3.2 billion AI and cloud infrastructure investment

Microsoft has announced a €3.2 billion investment to expand its cloud and AI infrastructure in Germany, the largest investment in the country in the company’s 40-year history. The investment will double the capacity of Microsoft’s cloud region in Frankfurt and build new infrastructure in North Rhine-Westphalia. By 2025, Microsoft plans to train more than 1.2 million people in digital skills. The expansion will help meet the growing demand for AI-specific computing power and cloud solutions while enabling the training and application of new AI models and services on the Microsoft Azure platform. Microsoft aims to support industries such as manufacturing, automotive, finance, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and medical technology.
